Hi,I'm Claude
I was born in Beirut, and I have always had a deep passion for painting, which blossomed from a young age. My natural talent was evident early on, as I received numerous prizes during my childhood, showcasing my innate artistic abilities. For me, art has always been more than just a pastime; it is an emotional refuge, a space where I can freely create and express myself. This profound connection to art led me to pursue formal training at the Michael Angelo School of Arts after completing high school, where I honed my skills and deepened my understanding of various artistic techniques and styles.
Throughout different phases of my life, I explored several styles of painting, each contributing to the development of my unique artistic identity. Eventually, I discovered my true calling in contemporary art, particularly in abstract and mixed media painting. This shift allowed me to convey my vision of the world with greater depth and personal expression. In my artwork, I merge drawing and collage with diverse stroking techniques, using bold and contrasting colors to capture the vibrant essence and atmosphere of my surroundings.
Much of my artwork is autobiographical, translating my life experiences, emotions, and inner world onto the canvas. Female figures often serve as the focal point of my abstract compositions, embodying my passions, pains, and changing states of mind. These figures, rendered in abstract form, become a powerful medium through which I communicate my personal journey and emotional landscapes.
In recent years, I have ventured into abstract expressionism, further expanding my artistic repertoire. This new direction emphasizes improvisation and spontaneity, with energetic gestures and dynamic strokes that reflect my inner energy and visual realities. Through this experimentation, my art has evolved to embody a more raw and immediate expression, capturing the essence of my emotions and the world around me.
My works are permanently exhibited at my own gallery, Claude Saba’s Gallery, and have been showcased at various prestigious venues, including Arthaus Beirut, Rebirth and Smallville Beirut, the Sheikh Zayed Exhibition Hall at the Lebanese American University - Beirut, as well as international locations like LAU in New York, Times Square in New York City, Dubai DIFC, London, and Venice.
